In 2008, a research branch of Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions published a survey revealing that 10 percent of some of the most competitive colleges in the U.Sviewed an applicant’s social networking page during the application process.
Of those colleges, 38 percent reported that what they had found had a negative impact on the student’s acceptance.
“Colleges are looking to gain a holistic picture of prospective students,” said high school guidance counselor Mr. Michael Johnson. A Facebook profile might give them just what they need.
