Kevin McNamara takes his role as senior captain of the men’s hockey team at Colgate University very seriously, on and off the ice. But his vision, and leadership qualities, extend far beyond lacing up the skates for the Raiders.

A 5-foot-11, 180-pound defenseman who skates in all situations for coach Don Vaughan, the Belmont Hill School grad is reaching out to those in need through Goals For Good, a program he founded prior to this season.

The charitable endeavor involves all 12 men’s and women’s Division 1 programs in the ECAC; every program receives pledges from fans based on goals scored or games won through www.goalsforgood.org, a website designed and promoted by McNamara.

Everywhere you turn on the web, there are stories of prep school students or grads involved in charity. Maybe it’s just because it’s the season of giving.
