Kevin McNamara takes his role as senior captain of the men’s hockey team at Colgate University very seriously, on and off the ice. But his vision, and leadership qualities, extend far beyond lacing up the skates for the Raiders.
A 5-foot-11, 180-pound defenseman who skates in all situations for coach Don Vaughan, the Belmont Hill School grad is reaching out to those in need through Goals For Good, a program he founded prior to this season.
The charitable endeavor involves all 12 men’s and women’s Division 1 programs in the ECAC; every program receives pledges from fans based on goals scored or games won through www.goalsforgood.org, a website designed and promoted by McNamara.
Everywhere you turn on the web, there are stories of prep school students or grads involved in charity. Maybe it’s just because it’s the season of giving.
Students from Avon Old Farms raised $16k in just two weeks to buy toys for Hartford-area kids in an annual event called the Hartford Toy Shoppe.
Just a good example of prep school philanthropy. Pretty amazing to see AOF students raising that much coin in just two weeks. Who would not want to help little kids on Christmas? Here’s the link to the organization that puts on the event: Click here
Quor Splash, a senior at The Rivers School is dropping his first mixtape next Monday. The mixtape titled December 19th drops no sooner than December 19th. Bump to Splash’s tracks from earlier this year and be hyped for next Monday.
Trend #December19th on twitter, post about it on facebook, and don’t forget to download the mixtape December 19th on Datpiff.com

Everyone knows that BB is The Man. Whether he is chilling on ACK or tossing around a lax ball with Paul Rabil, Bill can do no wrong. He has also sent his kids to prep schools here in New England.
Now, we have the ability to use the Virtual Belichick to get answers to all of the important questions in life, like:
Q: “What should I tell my girl when she asks why I am in a poke war with her best friend?”
A: “It is what it is.”
I know from personal experience that exams can be stressful. To focus during your studies or unwind after a study session give the band Rebelution a listen.
Mid-terms are definitley here, and they are not fun. We’re all just trying to get through them and do our best.
If you are taking a break, click on the video for a laugh. Sometimes the video loads with an anti-Scott Brown ad. If it does, wait 5 seconds and then skip it. Senator Brown is the father of Ayla Brown, prep school basketball legend from Nobles. He’s the man.
